구약 성경은 신자의 삶에 매우 중요합니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 종종 소홀히 여기게 됩니다. 그래서 저는 당분간 구약 성경을 중심으로 설교를 하려고 합니다.
먼저 우리는 아래 질문으로 자신에게 질문 해 봅시다.
The Old Testament is crucial to the life of the believer, yet it is often neglected, so I'm going to focus my sermons on it for a while.First, we ask ourselves the question below.

You can't live a full life of faith while being ignorant of the Old Testament. Why is that?
21. 마틴 로이드존스 (Martyn Lloyd-Jones)
구약을 중시한 설교자 마틴 로이드존스. 그는 복음전도 설교를 위해서 더욱더 구약에 집중하였습니다.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones, a preacher who emphasized the Old Testament for his evangelistic preaching.
마틴 로이드존스는 20세기 최고의 강해 설교자이며 복음전도자로 알려져 있습니다. 촉망받던 청년 의사였던 그는 27세 때, 의사라는 직업을 버리고 거룩한 소명에 순종하여 남웨일스 아베라본에서 목회를 시작합니다.
그는 섬기는 교회에 놀라운 부흥과 영적 통찰을 불러 있으켰는데, 설교자로서 그는 신자의 영적 상태를 철저히 분석하여 죄가운데 빠져있는 영혼을 깨우는 사역을 감당했습니다.많은 사람들은 마틴 로이드존스를 강행 설교자라고 알고 있지만, 그의 아내에 따르면 마틴 로이드존스는 먼저 기도의 사람이었고 복음전도자였습니다.

A promising young doctor, he abandoned his medical profession at the age of 27 to obey a holy calling and begin pastoring in Aberavon, South Wales. He brought incredible revival and spiritual insight to the churches he served, and as a preacher, his ministry was to thoroughly analyze the spiritual condition of believers and awaken souls mired in sin.
Many people know Martin Lloyd-Jones as a hard-hitting preacher, but according to his wife, he was a man of prayer and an evangelist. When he focused on evangelistic preaching, he preached from the Old Testament, proclaiming texts that necessarily reminded him of the need for salvation. During his ministry at Aberavon, about 75% of the texts he preached from were from the Old Testament.
마틴 로이든존스 목사가 구약을 중시한 이유
Why Pastor Martin Lloyd-Jones valued the Old Testament
19세기초, 열정은 있지만 훈련을 제대로 받지 못한 채 남태평양의 타히티 섬으로 떠난 선교사들이 있었습니다. 그들은 원주민이 어린아이처럼 단순한 마음으로 복음을 기다리고 있을 것라고만 생각하고 무작정 떠났습니다. 그러나 막상 섬에 도착한 그들은 엄청난 충격을 받고 말았습니다. 원주민들이 어린아이처럼 단순한 마음으로 선교사님들을 대하지 않았던 것입니다.
신약 중심의 구원에 대한 설명은 그저 사람들에게 그리스도와 그분의 구원을 말해 주는 것입니다. 그러면 사람들이 그리스도를 영접하고 싶어할 것이라고 말하는 것입니다. 그러나 구약을 통하여 메시지를 전하지 않으면, 교회는 사람들에게 죄의 본질에 대한 의식과 하나님을 향한 경외심을 잃어버리게 하는 전혀 예상치 못한 결과를 갖게 한다고 합니다.
”기독교에서 일어난 모든 위대한 각성은 사람들이 하나님의 존엄성을 깨닫고 그분을 경외할 때 비로소 시작되었다. 그리고 이와같은 경외심으로 인한 사랑과 믿음속에서 그 깨달음과 각성은 강력했고 놀랍게 완성되었다.” (W.G.T. Shedd)
In the early 19th century, a group of enthusiastic but poorly trained missionaries traveled to the South Pacific island of Tahiti, assuming that the natives would be waiting for the gospel with the simplicity of a child. But when they arrived, they were in for a shock: the natives were not treating them with the simplicity of a child.The New Testament-centered explanation of salvation is to simply tell people about Christ and His salvation, and they will want to receive Him. However, when the message is not presented through the Old Testament, the church is said to have the unintended consequence of convicting people of sin and causing them to lose their reverence for God.
"All the great awakenings in Christianity began when men realized the dignity of God and revered Him; and in the love and faith which this preceding reverence prepared, the realization and awakening were joyfully consummated to the utmost." (W.G.T. Shedd)
22. 구약의 특별한 목적 / Special purposes in the Old Testament
이 시대의 몇몇 설교자게들이나 교회 회중들은 구약 성경이 그리스도인과는 거의 관계가 없다고 느끼거나 주장하는 경우가 있습니다.
이들은 이렇게 말합니다. “구약은 유대인을 위한 책이다”, “구약에는 하나님의 은혜가 전혀없다.” 그러면서 “구약없이도 신앙 생활을 잘 할 수 있다”라고 주장합니다.
설교자로서 저도 지난 많은 시간동안에 “구약과 신약의 지나친 분리”를 가지고 있었던 것 같습니다.
하나님께서 구약을 통하여 목적하고 있는 하나님의 계시가 분명히 있습니다. 그러한 하나님의 계시를 무시하고 온전한 신앙생활을 할 수는 없습니다.
”구약의 특별한 목적은 인간이 오직 거룩하신 구세주 하나님으로만 구원받을 수 있는 상황에 빠져있다는 사실을 긴 역사속에서 하나 하나씩 증명해주 있는 것입니다.”Some preachers or church congregations in this day and age feel or assert that the Old Testament has little relevance to Christians.They say: "The Old Testament is a book of the Bible. "The Old Testament is for Jews," they say, "There is no grace in the Old Testament," and they argue that "you can live your faith just fine without the Old Testament."
As a preacher myself, I think I've been guilty of "too much separation between the Old and New Testaments" for much of my life.
There is a revelation of God's purpose in the Old Testament, and we cannot live a full life of faith by ignoring it."The special purpose of the Old Testament is to prove, one by one, throughout history, that man has fallen into situations from which only a holy Savior can save him."
구약은 사실 “죄라는 광야”에서 “너희는 여호와의 길을 예비하라” (이사야 40:3)고 외치는 광야의 소리라고 할 수 있습니다.
그래서 사도바울은 로마서에서 아래와 같이 말합니다.
The Old Testament is actually a voice in the wilderness crying out, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord" (Isaiah 40:3) in the "wilderness of sin." That's why the apostle Paul says in Romans
(롬 3:19, 개정) “우리가 알거니와 무릇 율법이 말하는 바는 율법 아래에 있는 자들에게 말하는 것이니 이는 모든 입을 막고 온 세상으로 하나님의 심판 아래에 있게 하려 함이라”
(롬 3:19, 새번역) “율법에 있는 모든 말씀이 율법 아래 사는 사람에게 말한 것임을 우리는 압니다. 그것은 모든 입을 막고, 온 세상을 하나님 앞에서 유죄로 드러내려는 것입니다.”
(Rm 3:19, NIV11) “Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.”
(Rm 3:19, KJV) “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law： that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”

”구약 메시지에 무관하긴 하지만 그리스도를 잘 믿는 사람이 있을 것이라고 기대하는 것은 우리 자신이 하나님보다 지혜롭다고 생각하는 것과 같은 뜻이다”
30. 완전한 창조와 인간의 존엄성 / Perfect creation and human dignity

하나님은 사람에게 완전한 자유를 주셨습니다. 하나님의 창조가 완전하다는 것은, 사람이 언제나 착한 일 또는 선한 일을 행하는 존재라는 의미가 아닙니다.
하나님의 완전한 창조는 사람에게 딱 맞는 존엄성을 주셨다는 것입니다. 그것이 무엇일까요?God gave man complete freedom. The perfection of God's creation does not mean that man is a being who always does good or good things.
The perfection of God's creation means that God gave man and woman the dignity he deserves. What is that?31. 첫번 째 존엄성 : 영적 결단 - Spiritual Initiative / First Dignity: Spiritual Initiative

“ The Inspiration of Spiritual Initiative “하나님은 인간이 존엄성을 위해서 “선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라”는 말씀을 주셨습니다.
God gave us the command to "not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" for the sake of human dignity.
하나님은 인간을 입력된 프로그램대로만 행하는 기계 같은 존재로 만들지 않으셨습니다. 하나님은 인간을 보고 바라고 갈망하는 마음이 이는 존재로 만드셨습니다.
그래서 하나님은 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 만드시고 사람에게 그 나무 열매를 먹지 말라고 하셨습니다.종종 어떤 사람들은 질문을 합니다. 그 나무가 없었더라면 죄를 짓는 일도 없었을 것이라고 합니다.
그런데 하나님은 탐내는 마음을 지닌 사람 곁에 그 나무를 두셨습니다. 바로 이것이 하나님이 사람에게 주신 존엄성입니다.
God didn't make humans to be machines that only do what they're programmed to do. God made humans to have hearts that see, want, and long for things. That's why God made the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and told us not to eat from it.
Sometimes people ask, "If the tree wasn't there, there would be no sin," but the Bible says that God placed it right next to a man with a covetous heart. That's the dignity that God gave to man.
선악을 알게 하는 나무는 사람으로 하여금 자신이 하나님의 형상과 모양대로 지음 받은 존재지만, 하나님은 아님을 잊지 않게 하는 아주 중요한 창조물인 것입니다.
사람은 이 나무를 보고 어떤 갈망을 갖게 될 때마다, [자신이 하나님은 아님]을 생각하고 그 나무 열매를 먹지 않는 결단을 하도록 부름받은 존재로서의 존엄성을 확인하며 살게 된 것입니다.
하나님은 사람을 스스로 자발성을 가지고 하나님의 명령을 따르는 삶을 살도록 부르시고 초대하신 것입니다.The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is a very important creation because it reminds man that he is made in the image and likeness of God, but he is not God. Whenever man sees this tree and has a craving, he is reminded that he is not God, and he is called to affirm his dignity as a being who is called to make the decision not to eat the fruit of the tree. God calls and invites man to live a life of voluntary obedience to God's commands.
그러므로 선악을 알게 하는 나무는 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받은 인간의 존엄을 보여주는 것입니다.
하나님의 형상 대로 지음받은 인간의 존엄성은 “하나님의 말씀, 하나님의 초대, 하나님의 영감(inspiration, 감동을 주심)”을 통하여 “새로운 결단(영적인 결단, 새로운 출발, 새로운 계획, initiative, spiritual initiative, 하나님과의 관계를 통하여 새 출발하는 것)을 하여 비록 광야에 있을 지라도 앞으로 나아가는 삶을 사는 것입니다.The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, then, is an object of the dignity of human beings made in the image of God, whose dignity is to make a "new decision (spiritual decision, new beginning, new plan, initiative, spiritual initiative, new beginning through a relationship with God)" through "the word of God, the invitation of God, the inspiration of God" to live a life that moves forward, even though it may be in the wilderness.
32. 두번 째 존엄성 / Second Dignity
두번째, 하나님은 인간의 존엄성을 위해서 “인간에게 질문을 하십니다.
Second, God "asks human beings questions" out of respect for human dignity.
하나님은 아담에게 “네가 어디에 있느냐?”라고 질문하십니다. 그 이후에 “누가 너의 벗었음을 네게 알렸느냐”, “그 나무 열매를 네가 먹었느냐”라고 물으십니다.
하나님은 여자에게도 “네가 어찌하여 이렇게 하였느냐”라고 물으십니다.
반대로 하나님은 뱀에게는 질문하지 않으시고 단지 선언하십니다.
God asks Adam, "Where are you?" and later, "Who made known to you that you were naked" and "Did you eat of the fruit of the tree?" God also asks the woman, "Why did you do this?"
In contrast, God does not question the serpent, but only declares.
(창 3:14, 새번역) “주 하나님이 뱀에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 이런 일을 저질렀으니, 모든 집짐승과 들짐승 가운데서 네가 저주를 받아, 사는 동안 평생토록 배로 기어다니고, 흙을 먹어야 할 것이다.”
(Gn 3:14, NIV11) “So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.”인간의 두번째 존엄성은 하나님께서 하나님과 대화라도록 초대받았다는 것입니다.
지난 일주일 QT 본문과 설명에서 “주의 음성을 직접 듣기”, “하나님의 음성을 듣기 위해 집중하는 훈련” , “중심이 견고한 자”, “하나님을 바라보는 눈” 등의 내용으로 “신자를 초대하셔서 하나님의 음성을 듣고 사는 삶”에 대해서 알려주셨습니다.
신자가 하나님앞에서 말씀과 기도로, 말씀이 기도가 되고, 말씀을 통해서 하나님의 음성을 듣고 하나님의 마음을 알아가고, 신자도 하나님앞에서 진실한 고백과 기도를 할 수 있는 신자의 존엄을 누리는 모든 성도들 되시길 축복합니다.The second dignity of being human is that we are invited by God to have a conversation with God. Last week's QT text and commentary talked about "Hearing the Lord's Voice Directly," "Training to Focus on Hearing God's Voice," "The Centered One," and "Eyes on God," all of which invite the believer to live a life of hearing God's voice.
May all the saints enjoy the dignity of believers, where believers can come before God in word and prayer, where the word becomes prayer, where believers can hear God's response through the word and know God's heart, and where believers can make sincere confession and prayer before God.
33. 죄의 시작은 자기애 입니다. / The beginning of sin is self-love.
자기 중심성 / 철저한 자기 집착 : Self-centeredness / Self-obsessed
선악을 알게 하는 나무 열매 자체가 문제가 아니었습니다. 그 나무 열매가 하나님이 금하신 열매였다는 것이 본질입니다.
사람이 그 열매를 먹는 것은 무엇보다도 자신과 하나님의 관계를 깨뜨리는 것이었습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 인간은 그 자기애-자기중심적-욕망을 위해 그 열매를 먹습니다.왜냐하면, 열매를 향한 욕망을 포기하고 내려놓으면 자기가 부정되고 없어질 것 같아서 하나님의 말씀을 부정합니다. 하나님의 말씀을 부정하는 것은 하나님을 부정하는 것이며 하나님과의 관계를 깨는 것입니다.
선악을 알게 하는 열매를 먹은 여자는 자신의 탐심을 충족하기 위해 하나님의 말씀을 왜곡한 후 그 말씀을 어깁니다.
자신의 욕망, 자신의 탐심을 충족하기 위해 하나님의 말씀을 떠나는 것은 하나님을 떠나는 것입니다. 자신이 하나님으로 부터 받은 말씀을 그 욕망과 탐심 충족을 위해 버리고, 과장하고, 축소하는 것이 죄의 출발이며 본질입니다.
It wasn't the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that was the problem; it was the fact that the fruit was forbidden by God.
For man to eat of that fruit was, first and foremost, to break his relationship with God. Nevertheless, man eats of that fruit for the sake of his narcissistic, self-centered desires, because he feels that if he gives up and lays down his desire for the fruit, he will be denied and disappear, and so he denies the Word of God. To deny God's Word is to deny God and to break one's relationship with God.
The woman who ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil distorted God's Word to satisfy her greed and then broke it. To leave the Word of God to fulfill one's own desires, one's own greed, is to leave God. To abandon, exaggerate, and diminish the Word one has received from God to fulfill one's desires and greed is the beginning and essence of sin.
