새 해를 시작하면서 다시 읽은 “춤추시는 하나님”에 나오는 글을 소개합니다. 모든 성도님들, 특별히 우리 젊은이들에게 전합니다.

우리의 덧없는 인생은 찰라적이 아니라 영존하는 것이고, 죽어가는 것이 아니라 살아나는 것이며, 일시적인 것이 아니라 영원한 것이다. 비록 깨지기 쉬운 연약한 삶이지만 우리에게는 희망을 품을 놀라운 이유가 있다.

이 숨은 실체를 어떤 이들은 '은혜'라고 하고, 어떤 이들은 '우리 가운데 있는 하나님의 생명'이라 하며, 어떤 이들은 '우리 가운데 임하신 하나님 나라'라 한다. 어떻게 부르든 일단 그 소중한 중심에 눈과 귀를 고정할 때 비로소 우리는 중심 위를 굴러가는 모든 시류와 상황은 기껏해야 그 중심을 값진 불멸의 선물로 다듬는 역활만 할 뿐이라는 것을 깨닫는다.

예수님은 믿는 이 마다 영생을 얻는다고 말씀하신다(요 6:40). 이것은 엄청난 혁명이다. 이 덧없고 찰나적인 세상에 그분이 영생의 씨앗을 뿌리러 오신 것이다. 여러면에서 영적인 삶이란 바로 그런 뜻이다.

일시적인 것 속에서 영원한 것을, 찰나적인 것 속에서 영존하는 것을, 사람들 속에서 하나님의 임재를 가꾸는 것이 바로 영적인 삶이다. 그것은 우리 안에 거하시는 성령의 삶이다.

이 신비의 임재를 인식하면 인생이 달라진다. 남들이 불만을 품을 때도 우리는 기쁨을 맛본다.

"Our fleeting life is not fleeting but eternal, not dying but alive, not temporary but eternal. Although our lives are fragile and delicate, we have amazing reasons for hope. Some call this hidden reality 'grace,' some call it 'the life of God among us,' and some call it 'the kingdom of God among us.' No matter what we call it, once we fix our eyes and ears on that precious center, we realize that all the currents and situations that roll around that center only serve to refine that center into a priceless and immortal gift.

Jesus says that everyone who believes will have eternal life (John 6:40). This is a huge revolution. He came to sow the seeds of His eternal life in this fleeting and transient world. In many ways, that is what spiritual life means. Spiritual life is cultivating the eternal in the temporary, the eternal in the fleeting, and the presence of God among people. It is the life of the Holy Spirit living within us.

Recognizing the presence of this mystery will change your life. We experience joy even when others are dissatisfied."
