1. The Kingdom of God has begun.

- The resurrected Jesus stayed with his disciples for 40 days and talked about the kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit changes the believer's life, and "grace and mercy are applied to others." Miracles happen and are experienced.

The happiness of the believer, the happiness of the church, is "fullness," but that fullness does not mean that "the church is complete, mature, and full of believers with strong, solid faith." 1. The kingdom of God has begun.

- The resurrected Jesus stayed with his disciples for 40 days and talked about the kingdom of God.
- After their encounter with the risen Jesus, the disciples were never the same as they had been before, building the church and living the life entrusted to them.
- They practiced and lived the resurrection as a way of life.
- Every day of our lives begins with experiencing resurrection. It's experiencing the morning: waking up from sleep.
- The seasons change: "The flowers bloom, the birds sing, the doves coo, let us hear them in our land" (Song of Songs 2).
- The Bible sings of resurrection all over the place. The natural world continues to sing of resurrection, too. Resurrection is God's eternal creation.
- The most important thing in life is what comes from outside.
- Our life, our family, our dear friends, our salvation, our new life, and our resurrection life don't come from "within" us, but from "without" us.
- When you think about it, none of these most precious things are of our own making.
- God's life is put into us and we are born.
- We were sinners, living aimlessly, each one his own master, until the death and sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was put in (covered). We are unmerited, but we have received the greatest gift of all.
- God's forgiveness, God's love, God's joy, God's freedom, God's laughter, drops on us, and we begin anew.
- This is how we live the kingdom of God.

2. (But) we must practice (laboriously, intensely) the kingdom of God.

- Many people are unhappy with their environment. There are two environments that people are most dissatisfied with.
- One is home, and one is church.
- It makes sense to think this way.
- To think about why, it would be nice to think about our own environment, but that's difficult.
- Not only do we not have an accurate lens through which to see ourselves, but we can see ourselves too positively or negatively.
- What about the stories in the Bible? What about the families in the Bible? What about the churches in the Bible, especially in the New Testament epistles?
- How many happy families are there in the Bible, with loving, joyful family members who truly have life?
- A church that is the body of Christ, fully aligned with the will of its head, Jesus?
A church that sacrifices to fulfill its God-given mission, seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness?
How much of a picture of a church that glorifies God can you find in the Bible?
There are two kinds of church in the Bible: the superficial church and the deep, miracle-producing church.
While the church has a surface appearance where people are involved, people make decisions, and people are members,
The church is God's work, not man's work.
It is not the nature of the church to be well organized, well connected, and thus well fulfilling some purpose in the eyes of man.
The church in the New Testament:
The church in the New Testament is so far from what the ideal church looks like.
The church in Ephesus was a talkative, argumentative group (lost in foolish speculation and vain talk, not even realizing what they are saying or what they are affirming)
The Corinthian church had the appearance of accomplishing a lot, but at the root they were spiritually childlike and carnal. They were envious, fighting, unforgiving of one another, etc.
-- they hadn't transformed the self in the believer into an obedient self, and they hadn't embraced obedience and service because of Jesus.
The New Testament church is shown to be very imperfect, immature, and lacking.
And yet, God is at work in it. This is the church: the deep church that produces miracles.
God has given the church the best environment for God to work in.
So, when you look at it by human standards, nothing seems to happen, people change in it.
That's the miracle of the church.
The church is where God works. The church is where God's resurrection life is planted and made to grow and bear fruit.
It's where the flowers bloom and the birds sing.
That's why we need to rehearse the kingdom of God and rehearse the resurrection.
In today's text, Romans 14:17, we read, "The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit."
The kingdom of God is "enjoyed in the Spirit"-that is, there is an embodied life that we can actually see, touch, feel, and sense because of the Holy Spirit.

3. Truth to me, grace to you!

In today's text, Romans 14:17, we read, "For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."
Church, we are told, is not about eating and drinking. In other words, it's not about settling for the life we're used to, the life we're most familiar with.
Instead, it's about enjoying "righteousness" in the Holy Spirit. The word "righteousness" means "right."
The idea is that there is a moment when God looks at your life and says, "Right!"
When is that moment? It's a moment of "Truth to me, grace to you!" We haven't lived like this until now.

We've been so generous with our own lives, yet so strict with others.
But when we experience the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, the love of God, the love of the cross, and the resurrection life, the Holy Spirit of God comes to work in the believer, amazingly.
So "first they apply the truth to themselves" and then "grace and mercy are applied to others."
This is the miracle.
The church in Ephesus was a congregation of about 10 people. The apostle Paul had been ministering there for three years.
He says.
(Eph 1:23) "The church is the body of Christ, the fullness of him who fills all in all."
The happiness of the believer, the happiness of the church, is "fullness".
However, that fullness does not mean that "the church is complete, mature, and full of believers with a strong and solid faith."
There can still be immaturity, imperfection, disunity, and lethargy in the church.
Our fullness has nothing to do with this confession, "Fill me" or "Fill our church".
Our fullness is "humbly acknowledging our weakness, but believing in the fullness of God; the fullness of God is to admire; the fullness of God is to worship."
May you be able to recognize the fullness of God. May you continue to meditate on God's fullness, wisdom, and power.
