하나님의 비전이 없고, 삶에 열정이 없고, 아무도 지켜보고 격려해 주지 않을 때, 하나님께 대한 헌신, 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 공부하는 일, 가정 생활, 하나님에 대한 의무에서 다음 단계로 나아가기 위해서는 전능하신 하나님의 은혜가 필요합니다. 다음 단계로 나아가기 위해서는 복음을 전하는 것보다 훨씬 더 많은 하나님의 은혜가 필요하며, 그분께 의지하는 것에 대한 인식이 훨씬 더 커져야 합니다.

  • 성육신의 본질 실천

모든 그리스도인은 성육신의 본질에 참여해야 하며, 성육신의 본질을 그들의 살과 피가 활동하는 현실이라는 다음 단계에 나타나도록 해야하고, 자신들의 손길을 통해 실천해야 합니다. (Every Christian has to partake of what was the essence of the Incarnation, he must bring the thing down into flesh-and-blood actualities and work it out through the finger-tips.)

  • 기쁨

[반추/rumination : "기쁨이란 내가 창조되고 거듭난 목적을 온전히 이루는 것이지 어떤 일을 성공적으로 이루어낸다는 것을 의미하지 않습니다.”
”Joy comes from seeing the complete fulfillment of the specific purpose for which I was created and born again, not from successfully doing something of my own choosing.”

우리 주님께서 누리셨던 기쁨은 아버지께서 그분을 보내신 뜻을 이루는 데 있습니다. 그래서 주님은 “아버지께서 나를 보내신 것같이 나도 너희를 보내노라” (요 20:21)고 말씀하셨습니다.

주님으로부터 받은 사명이 있습니까? 그렇다면 그 사명에 충실해야 합니다. 그리고 그 사명을 이루는 것만을 위해 나의 생명을 소중히 여겨야 합니다.
어느 날 예수님으로부터 “잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아” (마 25:21)라는 말을 들으며 기뻐할 것을 생각해 보십시오.

  • 부르심(소명)과 분별과 충성


신자는 모두 인생속에서 자기에게 가장 잘 맞는 것을 찾아야 합니다. 영적으로는 우리가 주님께로부터 사명을 받을 때 그것을 찾게 됩니다. 이때 주님께서 주신 사명을 이루기 위해 우리는 주님과 동행해야 합니다. 주님을 개인의 구주로만 아는 단계를 넘어서야 합니다. 그리하여 우리도 주님께서 바울에 관해 “그가 내 이름을 위하여 얼마나 고난을 받아야 할 것을 내가 그에게 보이리라” (행 9:16)고 하신 말씀을 감당할 수 있어야 합니다.

"너는 나를 사랑하느냐?" 그리고 "내 양을 먹이라"(요한복음 21:17). 주님은 우리에게 그분을 어떻게 섬길 수 있는지에 대한 선택권을 주시는 것이 아니라, 그분의 사명에 대한 절대적인 충성(loyalty), 즉 하나님과 가장 가까운 교제 속에 있을 때 우리가 분별하는 사역(섬김)에 대한 신실함(faithfulness, 충성)을 요구하고 계십니다.

만인 주 예수님으로부터 사역을 받았다면, 어떤 필요는 부르심과 같지 않다는 것을 알 것입니다. 어떤 필요는 그 부르심을 실천할 기회일 뿐입니다. 부르심(소명, call)은 주님과의 참된 교제 속에 있을 때 받은 사역(ministry)에 충실하라는 것입니다.

이 말은 당신만을 위한 특별한 사역들이 따로 확보되었다는 뜻이 아니라, 당신에게 주어진 부르심을 확인한 이후에는 그 부르심과 무관한 다른 사역에 대한 요구를 무시해야 할 수도 있다는 의미입니다.

Am I getting nobler, better, more helpful, more humble, as I get older? Am I exhibiting the life that men take knowledge of as having been with Jesus, or am I getting more self-assertive, more deliberately determined to have my own way? It is a great thing to tell yourself the truth.

많은 신자들이 기독교적 감상으로 포장된 상식에 의해서 사역합니다. 주님께서 그러한 사람들에게 사명을 주시면 하나님께서 원하시는 바를 언제가 신자의 기억속에 넣어주십니다. 그러면 더 이상 주님을 위해 상식을 기반으로 일할 수 없게 됩니다.

내 인생에서 '나 자신에게 소중한 것'은 무엇인가요? (What do I count in my life as “dear to myself”?) 내가 예수 그리스도께 사로잡히지 않았고 그분께 나를 내어드리지 않았다면, 내가 하나님께 드리기로 결심한 시간과 자신의 사역을 소중하게 여길 것입니다. 나는 또한 내 자신의 삶을 "나 자신에게 소중한 것"으로 여길 것입니다.

  • 이 세상에 보내실 만큼의 하나됨!

[반추/rumination : "내 양을 먹이는 것”은 사랑을 이루는 과정입니다. 한편 하나님의 사랑은 이루는 과정이 아니라 하나님의 속성 자체입니다.

성령을 받을 때 신자는 하나님과 연합되고 주의 사랑이 신자안에서 드러납니다. 성령께서 신자안에 내주하시면 신자의 영혼이 하나님과 연합되는데, 그것이 끝이 아닙니다. 최종 목표는 예수님처럼 신자도 아버지 하나님과 하나가 되는 것입니다.

그러면 예수 그리스도께서는 아버지와 어떠한 하나됨을 누리셨습니까? 신자를 위해 희생하시도록 아버지께서 이 세상에 주님을 보내실 만큼의 하나됨이었습니다.
주께서 말씀하십니다. “아버지께서 나를 보내신 것과 같이 나도 너희를 보내노라” (요 20:21)

  • 다 소모하거라

지금 베드로는 “나를 사랑하느냐”라는 주님의 뼈아픈 질문의 의미를 깨닫기 시작합니다. 그것은 “다 소모하거라”라는 의미입니다. “얼마나 나를 사랑하는지를 고백하지 말고 , 얼마나 많은 놀라운 계시를 받았는지도 말하지 말고, 그저 ‘나의 양을 먹이라’”는 것입니다.

주님의 양중에서도 지독하게 웃긴 양도 있고 질기도록 말 안 듣는 양도 있고 더러운 양, 이상한 양, 대항하며 들이받는 양, 그리고 다른 길로 헤메는 양들이 있는데, 이들을 다 사랑하며 자신을 소모하기까지 먹이라는 것입니다.

  • 어떤 신자도 이 사명을 감당하는 데 예외일 수 없음

하나님의 사랑을 다 소모하는 것은 불가능한 일입니다. 만일 내 안의 사랑이 하나님이 사랑으로 부터 넘쳐나는 것이라면 그 사랑을 소모하는 것은 불가능합니다. 하나님의 사랑은 각 개인의 타고난 개성이나 특이성에 별 관심을 두지 않습니다. 만일 내가 주님을 사랑하면 나는 더 이상 타고난 기질에 이끌리지 않게 됩니다. 신자는 주님의 양을 먹여야 합니다. 누구도 이 사명을 감당하는 데 예외가 될 수 없습니다.

사람의 자연적인 특성에 호감을 갖는 그러한 사랑을 하나님의 사랑으로 속지 않도록 주의하십시오. 그러한 사랑은 결국 하나님의 사랑을 모독하는 것으로 끝마치기 때문입니다.

Am I becoming more and more in love with God as a holy God, or with the conception of an amiable Being who says, “Oh well, sin doesn’t matter much”?

There is no condition of life in which we cannot abide in Jesus. We have to learn to abide in Him wherever we are placed.

[반추/rumination : "당신의 내면 가장 깊숙한 곳까지 주님의 아픔을 느낀 적이 있습니까?” 마귀도 결코 그곳까지는 아픔을 줄 수 없습니다. 물론 죄나 사람 사이의 감정도 마찬가지 입니다. 오직 하나님의 말씀만이 그곳까지 들어갈 수 있습니다.

“주께서 세 번째 네가 나를 사랑하느냐 하시므로 베드로가 근심하여 이르되” (요 21:17). 베드로는 이때 비로소 내면의 가장 깊은 중심에서 자신이 예수님께 헌신되었다는 사실을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 그는 주님께서 인내하며 반복해 물으시는 질문의 의미를 알았습니다. 그의 마음에는 실오라기 만한 거짓도 남아 있지 않았고 다시는 자신에게 속을 수 없게 되었습니다. 열정적으로 말하거나 감상이나 과장을 드러낼 여유도 없었습니다.

자신이 얼마나 주님을 사랑하는지를 깨달았던 놀라운 계시의 순간에, 그는 이렇게 말합니다. “주여, 주께서 모든 것을 아십니다.” 그는 자신이 얼마나 주님을 사랑하는지 깨닫기 시작했습니다. 그러나 “제가 당신을 얼마나 사랑하는지 이것 보세요, 저것 보세요”라고 떠들썩하며 말하지 않았습니다.

  • 내면의 영적인 자아안에 있는 진정한 사랑을 발견

[반추/rumination : "네가 나를 사랑하느냐?”

이 날카로운 질문에 대한 베드로의 대답은 불과 며칠 전 "주님과 함께 죽어야 할지라도 주님을 부인하지 않겠습니다!"라고 선언했을 때 보여준 대담한 반응과는 상당히 다른 모습입니다. (마 26:35; 마 26:33-34 참조).
우리의 타고난 개성(natural individuality), 즉 본성적 자아(natural self)는 대담하게 자신의 감정을 말하고 선언합니다.

그러나 우리 내면의 영적 자아 안에 있는 진정한 사랑(the true love within our inner spiritual self)은 예수 그리스도의 질문때문에 상처를 경험해야만 발견됩니다. 이전에 베드로는 일반인이 훌륭한 사람을 존경하는 차원에서 예수님을 사랑했습니다. 그러나 그것은 감정적인 사랑일 뿐입니다. 그것은 우리의 본성적인 자아에 닿을 수는 있지만 결코 사람의 영까지 침투하지는 못합니다.

예수님은 "누구든지 사람 앞에서 나를 시인하는 자, 즉 말로만이 아니라 모든 행동으로 사랑을 고백하는 자는 인자도 하나님의 천사들 앞에서 시인하리라"(눅 12:8)라고 말씀하셨습니다.

자신의 간교함에 대해 아파한 적이 없다면, 우리는 아직 우리의 삶에서 하나님의 말씀의 사역을 방해하고 있는 것입니다. 죄는 우리의 감각을 무디게 하기 때문에 하나님의 말씀은 죄가 주는 그 어떤 아픔보다 더 큰 상처를 우리에게 입힙니다.

그러나 주님의 이 질문은 우리의 감수성을 더욱 예민하게 만들어서 상상할 수 없을 만큼 우리를 아프게 합니다. 주님의 말씀은 양심적인 차원뿐만 아니라 더 깊은 인격적인 차원과 가장 깊은 영적인 차원에서도 아픔을 줍니다. "하나님의 말씀은 살았고 운동력이 있어... 혼과 영과 및 영혼을 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며..."- 어떤 속임수도 남지 못할 정도입니다(히브리서 4:12).

  • 주님에게서 멀어저 홀로 사역함

[반추/rumination : "많은 사역자들이 예수 그리스도를 홀로 내버려두고 의무감이나 자신의 특별한 판단에 따라 일합니다.”

많은 그리스도인 일꾼들이 예수 그리스도를 떠나 있으면서도 의무감이나 자신의 분별력으로 필요를 느끼기 때문에 그분을 섬기려고 노력합니다. 그 이유는 사실 예수님의 부활 생명이 없기 때문입니다.

우리의 영혼은 우리 자신의 종교적 이해에 기대어 하나님과의 친밀한 관계에서 벗어납니다. (잠언 3:5-6 참조). 이것은 고의적인 죄는 아니고 그에 따른 형벌도 없습니다.

그러나 자신이 예수 그리스도를 온전히 이해하지 못하여 혼동과 슬픔과 어려움을 초래했다는 사실을 깨닫고 나면 부끄러움과 후회에 빠집니다.

  • 더 깊게 부활 생명을 의지해야 함

신자는 훨씬 더 깊게 예수님의 부활 생명을 의지해야 할 필요가 있습니다. (We need to rely on the resurrection life of Jesus on a much deeper level than we do now.)
또한 매사에 주님과 연결짓는 습관을 길어야 합니다.

그러나 우리는 쉽게 상식적인 결정을 내리고 하나님께서 그 결정을 축복하실 것을 부탁합니다. 그러나 하나님은 그렇게 하실 수 없습니다.
의무감으로 사역하는 경우도 있습니다. 만일 신자가 의무감으로 사역을 하면 신자는 예수 그리스도와 경쟁이 되는 또 다른 기준을 세우게 됩니다.

신자는 양심의 빛이나 의무감으로 살라고 부름을 받은 것이 아닙니다. 주께서 빛 가운데 계심같이 우리도 빛 가운데서 걸으라고 부름을 받은 것입니다.

우리가 의무감으로 뭔가를 할 때는 그 일을 왜 하는지 따질 수 있습니다. 그러나 주께 순종하기 위해 무엇을 할 때는 논쟁하는 것이 불가능합니다. 그렇기 때문에 신자는 쉽게 조롱과 오해를 받을 수 있습니다.

The message of the prophets is that although they have forsaken God, it has not altered God. The Apostle Paul emphasizes the same truth, that God remains God even when we are unfaithful (see 2 Timothy 2:13). Never interpret God as changing with our changes. He never does; there is no variableness in Him.

선지자들의 메시지는 인간이 하나님을 버렸지만 그렇다고 해서 하나님이 변하지 않았다는 것입니다. 사도 바울도 우리가 불충실할 때에도 하나님은 여전히 하나님이시라는 동일한 진리를 강조합니다(딤후 2:13 참조). 우리의 변화에 따라 하나님이 변한다고 해석하지 마세요. 그분은 결코 변하지 않으시니 그분 안에는 가변성이 없습니다.

    [1] Jesus realized that the Pharisees were keeping count of the baptisms that he and John performed

    [2] (although his disciples, not Jesus, did the actual baptizing). They had posted the score that Jesus was ahead, turning him and John into rivals in the eyes of the people.

    [3] So Jesus left the Judean countryside and went back to Galilee.

    [4] To get there, he had to pass through Samaria.

    [5] He came into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph.

  • 주님의 능력을 제한하는 모습

[반추/rumination : "우물은 깊습니다. 사마리아 여인이 안 것보다 훨씬 더 깊은 우물이었습니다.” 당신안에 있는 우물의 깊이를 생각해 보십시오.

당신은 예수님의 사역을 제한하거나 빈곤하게 만들어서 그분께서 당신의 삶에서 일하실 수 없게 만들고 있지는 않습니까?

마음속에 상처와 고민의 깊은 '우물'이 있는데 예수님께서 오셔서 "너희는 마음에 근심하지 말라..."(요한복음 14:1)고 말씀하신다고 가정해 봅시다.

이때 당신은 이해할 수 없는 표정을 지으며 어깨를 으쓱하며 "하지만 주님, 우물이 너무 깊어서 주님도 거기서 평강과 위로를 끌어낼 수 없으실 것입니다."라고 말할 것인가요? 맞습니다. 예수님은 인간 본성의 우물에서 아무것도 끌어올리지 않으시는 것이 맞습니다. 그러나 예수님은 위로부터 생수를 길어내실 수 있습니다.

우리는 과거에 그분이 우리를 위해 행하신 일만 기억하면서도 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님을 제한합니다. 또한 "당연히 나는 하나님이 이런 특별한 일을 하실 것이라고 기대할 수 없다"고 말함으로써 거룩하신 분을 제한합니다.

우리는 그분이 전능하신 분임을 잊는 순간 우리 안에서 그분의 사역을 제안하고 약화시킵니다. 가난은 그분이 아니라 우리 안에 있습니다. 우리는 예수님으로 부터 위로와 동정을 원할 뿐, 예수님을 전능하신 하나님으로 믿으려고 하지 않습니다.

  • 주님을 바라보는 눈

우리 중에 형편없는 그리스도인이 그렇게 많은 이유는 그리스도가 전능하신 분임을 인식하지 못했기 때문입니다. 우리들 대부분은 그리스도인으로서의 겉모습과 경험은 어느 정도 있지만 아직 예수 그리스도앞에서 철저하게 자신을 내려놓거나 항복하지는 않았습니다.

우리는 어려운 상황에 처했을 때 "당연히 그분은 아무것도 할 수 없으실 거야"라고 말하며 그분의 사역을 무력하게 만듭니다. 우리는 스스로 우물 밑바닥까지 내려가서 물을 얻으려고 애씁니다. 결국 주저앉아서 "이것은 원래부터 불가능한 일이었어서"라고 하면서 체념합니다. 이런 불신앙의 자리에 머물지 않도록 주의하십시오.

아직 여러분의 미완성의 우물은 깊고 불안정합니다. 이제, 우물의 깊은 곳을 바라보는 자신의 눈을 돌려 주님을 바라보도록 노력하십시오.

불굴은 실패할까 두려워 매달려 있는 상태가 아닙니다. 불굴이란 우리의 영웅이 정복될 것이라는 믿음을 거부하는 최고의 노력입니다.

제자들의 최대의 두려움은 자신들이 망하게 되는 것이 아니었습니다. 예수 그리스도께서 패배하실지도 모른다는 두려움이었습니다. 곧 주께서 보장하셨던 사랑, 공의, 용서, 자비가 결국 승리하지 못하고 물거품처럼 사라질지도 모른다는 두려움이었습니다.

이때 영적 불굴을 촉구하는 음성이 들립니다. 그 음성은 아무것도 하지 않으면서 그냥 견디라는 음성이 아니라 하나님께서 결코 패배하지 않으신다는 확신 가운데 구체적으로 일을 진행시켜 나가라는 음성입니다.

  • 인내하라는 주님의 명령

지금 우리가 소망하는 것이 실망스러운 결과를 만들어 내는 것처럼 보인다면 그것은 오히려 그 소망이 더 정결케 되고 있다는 뜻입니다. 인간 마음의 모든 희망이나 꿈은 그것이 하나님앞에서 고결한 것이라면 분명히 성취될 것입니다.

그러나 인생에서 가장 큰 스트레스 중 하나는 하나님을 기다리는 것입니다. 예수님은 말씀하십니다. "너희가 인내하라는 나의 명령을 지켰으므로..."(요한계시록 3:10)라고 말씀하시면서 예수님은 성취를 가져다 주십니다.

그러므로, 영적 불굴의 자세를 계속 지키십시오.

[반추/rumination : 나 자신의 의무감이나 유익때문이 아니라 오직 하나님을 사랑하기 때문에 주를 위해 뭔가를 하게 된 적이 있습니까? ]


인간의 사랑에 있어서도 자기 자신을 잃을 정도로 빠지지 않는다면 그것은 사랑이 아닙니다. 사랑한다고 하면서도 언제나 신중하고 현명하여 계산만 하고 있다면 이는 전혀 사랑이 아닐 것입니다. 이것은 애정을 묘사하고 따뜻한 느낌을 줄 수 있지만 사랑에 대한 진실하고 정확한 설명은 아닙니다.

하나님을 위해 무언가를 하는 것이 유용하거나 의무라고 생각해서가 아니라 단순히 하나님을 사랑하기 때문에 그 일을 하게 된 적이 있나요? 주님을 사랑하면 지금 그분을 위해 할 수 있는 일들이 너무나 많은데, 당신은 그져 주님의 구원의 위대함만을 묵상하고 있습니까?

  • 피곤하고 지겨울 때

따분하고 피곤하고 고단한 삶(지겨움)에 맞서기 위한 이니셔티브는 마치 지금 내 곁에 하나님이 계시지 않는 것처럼 생각하고 스스로 첫 걸음을 내딛어야 합니다.

아무것도 하지 않으면서 하나님의 도움만을 기다리는 것은 소용없는 일입니다. 그러나 일단 우리가 일어나면 즉시 하나님이 그곳에 계신다는 것을 알게 됩니다.

하나님이 신자에게 영감을 주실 때 (Whenever God gives us His inspiration), 그 이니셔티브(주도권)은 우리의 도덕적인 선택, 즉 순종에 관한 것(전인격적이면서 자발적인 것)이 됩니다. 그렇다면 우리는 아무것도 하지 않고 계속 누워 있지 말고 순종하기 위해 행동해야 합니다. 우리가 일어나 빛을 발한다면 그 지겨움은 거룩함으로 바뀌게 될 것입니다.

요한복음 13장에서, 예수님은 소위 ‘가장 보잘 것 없고 지겨운 일’을 하십니다. 예수님은 어부였던 제자들의 발을 씻깁니다. 그러면서 주님은 “주이며 선생인 내가 너희의 발을 씻겨 주었으니, 너희도 서로 남의 발을 씻겨 주어야 한다 (요 13:14).”고 말씀하십니다.

지겨운 일가운데 주님의 빛을 보기를 원하다면 하나님이 주시는 영감을 받고 그 일을 대해야 합니다. 하나님의 영으로 충만한 사람들이 보잘 것 없고 지겨운 일을 하면 신기하게도 그 일들이 거룩해 집니다.

[반추/rumination]
제자들은 깨어 있어야 할 때 깊은 잠이 들었고 나중에 이를 알게 되었을 때 절망에 빠지게 되었습니다. 이처럼 이미 저질러진 일로 인해 어떻게 할 수 없다는 느낌은 우리를 절망케 합니다.

우리는 말합니다. “다 끝났어. 더 이상 어떻게 할 수가 없어. 소용 없어.” 우리는 자신의 절망이 예외적인 것이라고 생각하지만 그것은 오해입니다. 사실 절망을 경험해보지 않은 사람은 거의 없을 것입니다. 엄청난 기회가 있었는데 그것을 놓쳤다는 것을 알게 되었을 때, 우리는 쉽게 절망에 빠지곤 합니다.

그러나 예수 그리스도께서 오셔서 말씀하십니다. “지금 자느냐. 그 기회를 영원히 잃어버렸구나. 네가 다시 바꿀 수 없는 것이로구나. 그러나 일어나라. 함께 다음 단계로 가자.” 과거로 하여금 잠이 들게 하십시오. 그러나 그 과거가 예수님의 품 안에서 잠들게 하십시오. 그리고 주님과 함께 다가오는 미래로 들어가십시오.

우리는 누구나 절망의 경험이 있습니다. 현실 속에서 우리는 쉽게 절망에 빠집니다. 그러나 스스로의 힘으로는 그 절망의 늪에서 빠져나오지 못합니다. 예수님의 제자들은 정말로 용서받지 못할 행동을 했습니다. 그들은 예수님과 함께 깨어 있어야 할 그때 깊은 잠이 들었습니다.

그러나 주님께서는 그들이 절망에서 빠져나올 수 있도록 친히 찾아오셔서 영적인 시발점을 허락하십니다. “일어나라. 다음 단계로 가자.” 만일 우리가 하나님의 영으로 힘을 얻었다면 그 다음 단계는 무엇이겠습니까? 오직 주님을 온전히 의지하고 주의 구속을 바탕으로 기도하는 것입니다. 절대로 실패의식이 당신의 새로운 시작을 방해하지 못하도록 하십시오.

    「2」 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

    「3」 Elijah was afraid* and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, / *Or Elijah saw

    「4」 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”

    「5」 Exhausted, he fell asleep under the lone broom bush. Suddenly an angel shook him awake and said, "Get up and eat!"

    「6」 He looked around and, to his surprise, right by his head were a loaf of bread baked on some coals and a jug of water. He ate the meal and went back to sleep.

    「7」 The angel of GOD came back, shook him awake again, and said, "Get up and eat some more--you've got a long journey ahead of you."

  • 우울한 적이 있다

[반추/rumination]
우울한 적이 없다면 살아있는 사람이 아닐 것입니다. 돌덩이 같은 사람이 아닌 한, 인간은 우울할 수 있습니다. 누구에게나 자신을 우울하게 만드는 일들이 있습니다. 심지어 죽음과 같은 고통을 느끼게 하는 일들이 있습니다. 나 자신도 우울증에 걸릴 수 있다는 사실을 언제나 마음속에 두십시오.

  • 하나님의 영감(Inspiration)으로 첫 걸음을 내딛어야 합니다.

죽음의 공포앞에서 절망하고 있는 엘리야에게 하나님의 천사는 더 큰 비젼을 주시거나 놀라운 일을 행하려고 그를 찾아오지 않았습니다. 다만 엘리야에게 가장 일상적인 일, 곧 “일어나서 먹으라”고 말합니다.

성령이 오시면 비젼을 주시는 것이 아니라 가장 평범한 일들을 하라고 말씀하십니다.
우울증은 하나님이 창조하신 가장 평범한 것으로부터 우리를 멀어지게 합니다.
그러나 하나님의 감동하심이 신자에게 임하면 신자는 가장 평범한 일들을 하게 됩니다. '정말 하나님께서 계시는가’하고 질문하게 하던 그러한 평범한 일들 속에서 신자는 하나님을 발견하게 됩니다. 이렇게 찾아오는 영적인 감동은 그 사람의 우울증을 제거하는 시발점이 됩니다.

하지만 우리는 하나님의 영감으로 첫 걸음을 내딛어야 합니다. 우울증을 극복하기 위해 뭔가를 하면 우울증을더 심각하게 만들 뿐입니다. 그러나 하나님의 영이 우리에게 무엇인가를 해야 한다고 직곽ㄹ관적인 느낌을 줄 때 그것을 하면 우울증은 사라집니다. 성령님의 인도하심을 따라 즉시 일어나 순종하면 그는 다시 활력을 회복하게 됩니다.

When the Spirit of God comes to us, He does not give us glorious visions, but He tells us to do the most ordinary things imaginable. Depression tends to turn us away from the everyday things of God’s creation. But whenever God steps in, His inspiration is to do the most natural, simple things— things we would never have imagined God was in, but as we do them we find Him there. The inspiration that comes to us in this way is an initiative against depression.

But we must take the first step and do it in the inspiration of God. If, however, we do something simply to overcome our depression, we will only deepen it. But when the Spirit of God leads us instinctively to do something, the moment we do it the depression is gone. As soon as we arise and obey, we enter a higher plane of life.

”Lord, keep me from falling into depression in the face of death or in situations where I really have no choice but to do so. Especially in the most ordinary and mundane aspects of my life, let me be led by You to rise up immediately and live it out in obedience. Even in this place of darkness, let me know Your inspiration and make new resolutions and departures.”
